The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), the largest women-focused national amateur golf association, will conclude the 2017 EWGA Cup Series, presented by Baird Private Wealth Management, with the 2017 EWGA Cup Finals on October 27th and 28th. The event will be held at LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida and represent the year's largest gathering of EWGA members.
Now in its seventh year and as one of the premier competitive events run by the EWGA, the EWGA Cup is a team-based competition consisting of Four Ball and Singles Match Play. The Series began with eight regional qualifiers throughout the country during the month of September, as 133 teams and over 1,000 members from 31 states and three Canadian territories competed to earn a spot in the 2017 EWGA Cup Finals.
The Cup’s format mirrors highly successful team-based events like the Ryder Cup, President’s Cup and Solheim Cup to generate unrivaled excitement and thrilling competition. The event encourages women of all skill levels to compete, promoting friendly, fun competitive play among EWGA members. Clever team names and colorful, coordinated outfits add to the atmosphere surrounding the friendly competition.
This year's event is composed of 400 competitors representing 50 teams of eight women. Competitors will be split among the Rees Jones and Arthur Hills Courses at LPGA International. Hundreds of practice rounds are already underway, while Friday will feature morning and afternoon shotguns of four-ball competition on both courses and Saturday will feature morning and afternoon shotguns of singles match play, also on both courses.
Last year's Cup Finals was held at the Troon-managed Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort in Ranch Mirage, California. The Birdie Badgers of Madison, Wisconsin will return to defend their title at this year's event.
