Born in Pamplona, Spain in April of 1987, Beatriz Recari started her golf career at the early age of 11. Recari experience a rather successful amatuer career starting when she finished runner up in the 2003 British Girls Amateur Championship. She went on to win the Spanish Amateur Championship in 2004 and the French Amatuer Championship in 2005.
In late 2005, Recari was studying Economics at the University of Navarra when she qualified for the Ladies European Tour (LET) kicking off her professional career at the young age of 18. After her first year of college, she dropped out to focus on her golf career.
Recari won her first tournament as a professional golfer in 2009 during her fourth LET season at the Finnair Masters in Finland. Later that year, Recari won her season card into the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) when she finished tenth at the Final Qualifying Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Recari hit a few divots in the course during her first LPGA tour but made a quick comeback later in the season and finished 39th on the money list and was runner up for Rookie of the Year. Overall, the young golfer has won a total of 3 LPGA Tours and 1 LET.
In 2011, Recari grabbed quite a bit of attention when she announced that she had been struggling with an eating disorder for awhile. She donated all of her winnings from the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup to The Alliance for Eating Disorder Awareness and was later named an ambassador of the organization.
Recari ended 2011 with best finish and tied for eleventh at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. She earned $223,053, which brought her to number 43 on the money list. Recari brought her world ranking from 175th to 72nd by the end of 2011.
In 2012 Recari participated in all 27 LPGA events and made every cut. During this insane streak, her watchers and fans gave her the nickname of “Iron Woman”. After finishing top-ten over five times, she earned over $444,000 which boosted her to number 32 on the money list. By the end of 2012, Beatriz Recari was ranked 59th best golf player in the world and went on to be 19th in 2013.
