Recently, the EWGA Foundation began exploring ways to assist members were negatively impacted or displaced by ongoing natural disasters.
Since that time, the EWGA Foundation has formed a Committee to research and develop a program to help members with catastrophic issues arising from these natural disasters, including hurricanes, floods, wildfires and more.
In researching IRS guidelines for such a program, the Foundation's committee determined that a 501c3 (the EWGA Foundation) is not eligible to provide funds to a 501c6 (EWGA Association). This means the Foundation committee will need more time to identify the best way to support EWGA Members in their time of need.
During 2018, the Foundation Board will explore and evaluate, in conjunction with other strategic programs, the feasibility and optimal strategy for a future member aid initiative.
